Are you wondering how to cancel Spectrum internet service? If so, you should read this article. Here are tips to make your cancellation successful:
Customer service rep makes mistakes
A mistake by a Spectrum customer service representative may cost you thousands of dollars. If you are an unhappy customer, here’s how to get a refund:
Getting a refund for unsatisfactory service
If you’ve been displeased with the quality of your Spectrum Internet service, you’re not alone. This popular cable, telephone, and Wi-Fi provider have recently been the subject of several Reddit threads, and many customers have vowed to take action. However, if you don’t get what you paid for, you can seek a refund or a credit.
In New York, the Attorney General’s Office and the Federal Communications Commission have ordered Spectrum to provide refunds to nearly 900,000 customers, or a total of $62.5 million in restitution. The amount varies, but each customer will receive a maximum refund of $150. Time Warner Cable subscribers with legacy plans of 100 Mbps or higher are also eligible for a refund. The settlement has a timeline of 120 days.
Spectrum Internet Service no longer prorates final bills
After years of offering customers the option of paying their monthly bill pro-rated, Spectrum has changed its billing policy. No longer will you get a refund for unused days. Instead, you’ll have to pay the entire billing cycle. If you haven’t yet canceled your Spectrum service, call their Customer Service line and specify your cancellation date. You’ll also have to pay the full amount for the remaining days in the month.
Previously, companies would prorate bills if customers cancel their subscriptions. Spectrum changed its policy in January 2019, and it will not prorate final bills. The reason? To improve its wireless service. Rep. Seth Berry, D-Bowdoinham, said he would introduce legislation to address the issue. While Spectrum did not respond to a request for comment, it is not a “disappointing” change.
Spectrum reconnection policy
To make it easier for customers to pay their bills, Spectrum now has a reconnection policy that applies to new customers as well as existing ones. The refund policy is valid for customers who purchased a new subscription level. It does not apply to those who made one-time purchases. This policy is limited to one credit per household. You can also request a refund if you’ve changed your mind after signing up for a new subscription.
Once you’ve received a refund from Spectrum, you need to turn off your account and return any equipment. A customer service agent will walk you through the process and answer logistical questions. You’ll have to specify a date and time for the cancellation, and a reference number so you can track your cancellation status. This process is easy, convenient, and fast – it only takes 90 minutes!
